T. Daniel and Laurie Willets are two exponents of Modern Mime. Having studied the Art of Mime with the two masters of the modern art: Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau. Thus, these two artists have a mastery of the art few have acquired. With this training, and extensive training in the Theatre Art, they have honed a new alliance of Mime with Theatre, with Music and beyond. They have looked back to the Mime works that preceded them and they are looked forward with new ideas. With a historic perspective, this Mime Duo has an outlook that is primed for the new Century.

Their goal is to present the Art of Mime in as many different lights as possible. Thus, their work spans the concert stage as well as the proscenium stage. Their use of Mime, however, has not remained behind the proscenium arch. Today’s technology moves all the arts out of the auditorium and on to the electronic stage. T. Daniel and Laurie Willets have lead the way with experimental videos, choreography of films and even moving holograms.

Even with the electronic stage looming on the horizon, they continue to expand the horizons of their talents and of their Art for the wooden stage. They are among a select few who perform Classical Mime with symphony orchestras, chamber groups and their musical visions. By interpreting music with a visual component, the audible elements of music are rendered for audiences to see the music, often for the first time. In this capacity, they have rendered Bach, Beethoven, Hindsmith, Ibert, Stravinsky, Larson, Dorff and others for the eyes to hear.

With all this diverse activity, it remains the play, rendered in Mime, which is their first love. Original stories and themes written and presented with all the pageantry and imagery of the Theatre. This is what really sets this duo apart from not only other mimes but also from other theatre productions. They easily bring these ideas to children as well as the sophisticated mind of the adult.

With their training from Marcel Marceau and Etienne Decroux, they have created divers and varied productions. They play their instrument to create visually exciting programs that stirs the imagination, touches the senses and stimulates the mind.
